The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has called on Yoruba people to remain vigilant in the face of rising security challenges across the country.
The monarch made the call at Ode-Omu in Osun State during the weekend celebration of Ode-Omu Day, according to a statement issued on Sunday by his media aide, Adeola Oloko.
Ode-Omu Day is an annual event where indigenes assess community development efforts and outline future projects. Commending the community’s progress, the Olubadan praised the leadership of the Alaye of Ode-Omu, Oba Bolarinwa Oladipupo, for sustaining the spirit of development.
“Let me use this occasion to urge Yoruba people to be vigilant amid security challenges facing Nigeria,” Ladoja said, assuring the community of Ibadan’s continued support. He also announced that the Parakoyi of Ibadanland, Chief Tunde Afolabi, would chair the 2025 edition of the celebration.
Earlier, former Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, told attendees that Ibadan warriors were responsible for settling Ode-Omu at its present location in 1909. He commended the royal fathers, particularly the Olubadan, for their strong attendance.
