Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has congratulated the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on his 10th coronation anniversary, urging renewed unity among Yoruba traditional rulers.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, the Alaafin said he joined the people of Oyo Kingdom and the governments of Oyo and Osun states in celebrating the milestone.
He commended the Ooni’s leadership and expressed confidence that his reign would continue to promote peace and stability.
The Alaafin added that the monarch’s wisdom and friendliness have contributed to harmony in Ile-Ife and the wider Yoruba region.

The message comes months after tensions between both palaces over the conferment of the Okanlomo of Yorubaland chieftaincy title, a dispute that led to an exchange of strongly worded statements before interventions from concerned stakeholders eased the strain.
The Alaafin said unity, mutual respect and cultural cohesion among Yoruba monarchs remain essential to preserving heritage and strengthening traditional institutions across the region.
