VIDEO: Man Caught in Viral Dye-Adulterated Palm Oil Video

A viral video showing a-yet-to- be-identified-man mixing a large quantity of palm oil with dye has sparked widespread outrage, leading to urgent calls for intervention and regulatory action from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.

The video, which was shared online late November, started trending on Monday, December 8, showing a man mixing a concentrated dye into palm oil to enhance its colour.

Comments from concerned consumers on Facebook are warning that this practice, aimed at mimicking the rich red hue of high-quality palm oil, poses severe health risks, including cancer.

Nigerians have called for broader action, including probing the processing of other food items like tomato paste, vegetable oil, and stockfish, which consumers allege might also be subject to similar adulteration.

Citizens are pleading with NAFDAC to launch immediate investigations and track down the culprit featured in the video.

However, a Facebook content creator identified as Casfon, who spoke on this development claimed that the man in the video is from Ghana, adding that the dyed oil is been produced from the West African country.
