N200,000 Car Propeller Theft Lands Oyo Man in Court

A 29-year-old man, Michael Akinlolu, residing in Ibadan, Oyo State, was on Tuesday arraigned before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two propeller rods worth N200,000 from a vehicle.

First Daily correspondent learnt that the suspect allegedly stole the items last Sunday at about 10:45am from a CAC Church in Orita, Ibadan.

According to multiple reports on Tuesday, the defendant was arraigned before the court on charges related to theft.

The prosecutor, Musbau Lawal, informed the court that the defendant had stolen two propeller irons from a Ford pickup van worth N200,000, belonging to the complainant, Modupe Fayose.

He said the offence contravenes Section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

Although Akinlolu pleaded guilty, the magistrate, Olaolu Olanipekun, adjourned the case until December 11 for a review of facts and judgment.

A similar incident was reported in June by the Daily Post, involving a case before the Mapo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan.

The defendant, 30-year-old Pelumi Olusola, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for stealing a plank from a construction site in Lagelu Estate, Felele, Ibadan, after pleading guilty to the charges.
