A senior officer of the Nigeria Police Force, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ogbon‑Inu Taiwo Popoola, has died after collapsing during a routine management meeting at the Ebonyi State Police Command.
The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, at the office of the Commissioner of Police in Abakaliki.
Witnesses said Popoola suddenly experienced difficulty breathing before collapsing.
He was swiftly taken to the Police Medical Centre at the command headquarters, where attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Initial indications suggest the death resulted from cardiac arrest, possibly linked to a pre-existing heart condition.

His body has been moved to the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital mortuary for further procedures.
The Ebonyi State Police Command described Popoola as a committed officer whose sudden death has shocked colleagues and the law enforcement community.
Condolences have been extended to his family and fellow officers.
