The bill was passed following the presentation of the report by Musefiu Lamidi, Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, who moved the motion for its adoption. The motion was seconded by Hon. Folawewo Salami and supported by the entire House.

The plenary session, held at the Assembly Complex, Governor’s Office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, was presided over by Speaker Oludaisi Elemide. While presenting the report on the bill titled “H.B. No. 028/OG/2025 – Year 2026 Appropriation Bill,” Lamidi said the Assembly adjusted the budget proposals of three MDAs, which led to a slight upward review of the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) by N2.193 billion. The same amount was reduced from the capital receipts, retaining the total budget expenditure at N1.668 trillion.

Governor Abiodun said the 2026 budget, tagged the “Budget of Sustainable Legacy,” is projected to generate an estimated N509.88 billion from IGR, including N250 billion from internal revenue and N259.88 billion from other MDAs. Funding from the Federal Government, including statutory allocations, VAT, and other shared revenues, is projected at N554.81 billion, while capital receipts, comprising internal and external loans and grants, are estimated at N518.90 billion.

According to Abiodun, the focus of the budget is to deepen revenue transparency, expand the tax base, and strengthen fiscal sustainability without imposing additional burdens on residents.
