AFCON 2025: Super Eagles Set for Mozambique Clash in Round of 16

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will lock horns with Mozambique in the Round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following the conclusion of Group F matches on Sunday night.

Mozambique emerged as Nigeria’s next opponents after finishing third in Group F. Their fate was sealed when Cameroon recorded a narrow 2–1 victory over them, while hosts Ivory Coast claimed top spot in the group with a thrilling 3–2 comeback win against Gabon.

Nigeria qualified for the knockout phase in commanding fashion, topping Group C with a perfect record of six points from three matches.

The Super Eagles recorded convincing victories over Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda to secure their place as group winners.

The Round of 16 encounter between Nigeria and Mozambique is scheduled for Monday, January 5, with kick-off set for 8:00pm Nigerian time.

The match will be played at the Fez Stadium, the same venue where Nigeria featured throughout the group stage.

As the tournament enters its decisive phase, several other heavyweight fixtures have been confirmed for the Round of 16. Mali will face Tunisia, Senegal will battle Sudan, while Egypt take on Benin.

Ivory Coast are set to clash with Burkina Faso, South Africa will meet Cameroon, Morocco will play Tanzania, and Algeria will square off against DR Congo.

With the knockout rounds underway, attention now turns to whether the Super Eagles can maintain their strong form as they chase continental glory at AFCON 2025.
