ADC Can Topple Tinubu In 2027 — Momodu

A prominent figure within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has expressed confidence that the party has the strength and political depth to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Momodu said the ADC’s chances are significantly boosted by the presence of influential political figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, noting that their combined political weight positions the party to “topple” Tinubu in 2027.

Speaking during an appearance on Morning Brief on Thursday, the 15th of January, 2026, Momodu argued that the ADC also boasts other heavyweight politicians capable of challenging the ruling party, including Nasir El-Rufai, Aminu Tambuwal, and Rotimi Amaechi.

According to him, internal unity and strategic thinking will be critical as the party moves forward.

He said: “There will always be hardliners in politics, it’s a matter of principle and strategy. At this stage nobody should say it’s only my candidate and it should be my candidate, but don’t let it get acrimonious.

“We have to be careful because that is the wish of the ruling party that we will not be able to agree or disagree to agree.

“I have spoken to Peter Obi privately and publicly, so at this stage I believe that our alliance should be to the party that includes me.

“I have said it that if I wanted a candidate, my own candidate will be Atiku for matters of strategy, on matters of exposure, experience, and in the days of tributions you run to the elders of the house who can now bring out the wisdom to make sure that things are straightened out.

“There are many big whiz who can deliver for ADC, they include the former governor of Sokoto State, Tambuwal; El-Rufai, Amaechi, so we have a rich and robust line for the ADC, so for me, it’s not about one man.

“And of course, we have Mr Peter Obi, who INEC recorded, maybe, controversial as coming third, Atiku coming second in the last election. So ADC is blessed.

“The top three candidates in the last election, ADC already parades two of them, so that should tell us that if we manage ourselves very well we already have overwhelming votes to topple the APC.

“APC is one position so I don’t know why people think it’s impossible to remove Asiwaju.
“Trust me, for as long as we give INEC close marking and that is why you need candidates who will be given to generate the fire power to take on APC on their own turf.”

Momodu maintained that with discipline, cooperation, and vigilant monitoring of the electoral process by Independent National Electoral Commission, the ADC stands a realistic chance of defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress in the next presidential contest.
