Mercy Johnson Vows Legal Action Against Online Defamation Trolls

Popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson, has issued a strong warning to bloggers, content creators, and social media platforms over the spread of false reports concerning her personal life, declaring that legal action will now be pursued against offenders.

The role interpreter spoke out on Monday, the 19th of January, 2026, following the recent release of a TikTok content creator and blogger, Eedie Bliss, who had circulated allegations claiming that Mercy Johnson’s husband allegedly purchased a mansion for a supposed mistress who was said to be pregnant for him.

Eedie Bliss regained freedom on Saturday, the 17th of January, 2026, after being held in detention, a development that reportedly followed widespread public pressure.

Addressing the matter publicly for the first time, Mercy Johnson shared a video on her Instagram page on Monday, where she explained that “We have decided to withdraw the charges against the lady in question because of the love and respect we have for numerous individuals that reached out.”

Looking ahead to the year 2026, the actress made it clear that she would no longer tolerate misinformation, stating that “it’s no longer going to be business as usual for online trolls and platforms sharing false rumours against me and my family.”

In the video message, Mercy Johnson further expressed her appreciation to her fans and supporters, saying, “Hi guys, good morning from the other side. First and foremost let me just say thank you all for supporting my craft. I do not take your love for granted. But I felt the need to say that it’s no longer going to be business as usual. I have plans later this year for things I have to do online, and having plans to make trouble and court cases is going to be part of them because some people just won’t leave me and my family alone.”
