The Nigerian Armed Forces have disclosed that notorious bandit kingpin, Bello Turji, is under severe distress as sustained military offensives tighten the noose around him and other armed group leaders operating in the North-West.
This disclosure was made by the Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Warrah Idris, on Wednesday, the 21st of January, 2026.
Speaking while addressing Defence Correspondents currently on an operational tour of Zamfara State, Idris explained that recent intelligence assessments show growing pressure on Turji as a result of intensified military actions.
He noted that although the bandit leader has continued to evade arrest, coordinated ground assaults, actionable human intelligence, and advanced surveillance technology have significantly restricted his movement.
“Based on the most current intelligence received, Bello Turji and others are currently in confusion and panic because of the intensity of our current operations. They are relocating every few hours, every few days,” he said.

The Theatre Commander further dismissed reports suggesting that Turji exerts control over any local government area or community, stressing that such narratives are deliberately spread by terrorists as misinformation.
Challenging the credibility of such claims, Idris questioned the logic of a constantly fleeing individual exercising territorial authority.
“How does a person who does not have a permanent location control an axis or a local government?
“I dare Bello Turji to come out and present a single local government that he is controlling,” he said.
