Mahdi Shehu Slams Tinubu, Shettima Over Kajuru Kidnappings

Political activist and public affairs commentator, Mahdi Shehu, has taken a swipe at President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other senior government officials over what he termed their failure to respond adequately to the reported abduction of 170 persons in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Shehu expressed his criticism in a message posted on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, the 26th of January, 2026, where he commented on Vice President Shettima’s planned trip to Plateau State for the formal reception of Governor Caleb Mutfwang into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He questioned the priorities of the nation’s leadership, noting that no high-ranking official paid a visit to Kajuru in the aftermath of the mass kidnapping, despite the seriousness of the situation.

“Neither Tinubu nor Shettima nor Akume nor Christopher visited Kajuru,” Shehu wrote.
He further lamented what he described as a troubling disregard for human lives, adding, “But they are busy with other lesser engagements because 170 kidnapped victims do not matter in a country where 600,000 people were killed within one year.”

Turning his attention to the APC event in Plateau State, Shehu concluded his remarks by saying, “Welcome Mutfwang to the final destination.”
