Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of the now-defunct Pension Reform Task Force, has been hospitalised after collapsing in Abuja.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as Maina was entering his office in the Federal Capital Territory.
Witnesses said he suddenly lost his balance and fell, sparking immediate concern.
On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, Maina’s media assistant, Emmanuel Ekwe, confirmed the incident in a statement, explaining that it was triggered by complications from an untreated knee injury.
The fall reportedly caused him to hit his head on a staircase.
Maina was rushed to a private hospital in Abuja, where he remains under close medical observation.
Family sources have appealed for privacy while he receives treatment, and no official medical update has been released.

A former senior public official, Maina led the Pension Reform Task Force before it was disbanded.
He later became a central figure in one of Nigeria’s most high-profile pension fraud cases, culminating in his conviction and imprisonment on money laundering charges linked to pension funds.
Efforts to obtain further details on his health were ongoing at press time.
