Tinubu Steps In Again, Meets Fubara, Wike In Abuja

The prolonged political tension in Rivers State appears to be easing following a late-night intervention by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

According to reports on Monday, the President held closed-door talks with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and other key stakeholders from the state in an effort to restore calm.

Although details of the meeting were not officially disclosed, sources said Governor Fubara later accompanied Wike to his residence in Guzape, Abuja, suggesting a possible breakthrough in the strained relationship between the two political heavyweights.

The report further claimed that Fubara appealed to the former governor, pledging not to show him disrespect again—an indication of steps toward reconciliation amid months of political rivalry that had unsettled governance in the oil-rich state.

The development has raised hopes among observers that President Tinubu’s intervention could help stabilise Rivers State, where tensions between loyalists of Wike and the Fubara administration have dominated political discourse in recent weeks.

While neither party has issued an official statement, the late-night meeting is widely seen as a significant move toward resolving the crisis and restoring unity within the state’s leadership.
