Nigeria’s Super Eagles are scheduled to face Jordan national football team in an international friendly in Amman during the March 23–31 international window, subject to clearance from FIFA.
The fixture, reported by the Nigerian Television Authority, will mark the first senior-level meeting between both countries and forms part of Jordan’s build-up to their maiden appearance at the FIFA World Cup.
Jordan, popularly known as “The Chivalrous Ones,” have been drawn into a demanding group that includes defending champions Argentina national football team, Algeria national football team, and Austria national football team.
Meanwhile, reports suggest Iran national football team are exploring a possible March friendly against Nigeria, while discussions are also ongoing over a potential June clash with Portugal national football team.
However, Nigeria’s participation in any of these fixtures hinges on FIFA’s imminent verdict on the country’s eligibility protest against the Democratic Republic of the Congo national football team.

The Nigerian camp had petitioned FIFA over allegations that DR Congo fielded six ineligible players during last year’s African World Cup playoffs, a tie Nigeria lost on penalties in Morocco — a result that appeared to confirm the Super Eagles’ second straight absence from the global tournament.
FIFA is expected to review the complaint, with sources indicating that a favourable outcome could see Nigeria reinstated into the intercontinental playoffs in Mexico, where one of the final World Cup tickets will be decided later this month.
Both Nigeria and DR Congo are reportedly prepared to escalate the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport should FIFA’s decision go against them, prompting world football’s governing body to approach the case with heightened caution.
For now, the Super Eagles remain in limbo — awaiting a ruling that could revive their World Cup dream or finally close the door on their qualification campaign.
