Ifeanyichukwu Endorses Tinubu’s Electoral Act Amendment

Businessman and political figure Dumebi Ifeanyichukwu has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the proposed review of the Electoral Act, describing the move as critical to deepening Nigeria’s democracy ahead of subsequent elections.

During a media chat on Thursday, the 19th of February, 2026, Ifeanyichukwu stated that several stakeholders and residents in Imo State view the president’s reform agenda as a step toward better governance and rebuilding trust in the country’s electoral system.

“We want the President to know that Imo people are fully behind him,” he said. “The ongoing conversation around the Electoral Act should not be reduced to politics alone. What matters is building a stronger and more credible democratic system.”

His remarks come at a time of intense nationwide discussions over suggested amendments to the Electoral Act. Proponents insist reforms are necessary to fix challenges observed in previous elections, while critics have questioned issues relating to openness and possible political motives.

Ifeanyichukwu also mentioned comments by nightlife entrepreneur and social commentator Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as ChiefPriest, who recently shared his thoughts on electoral reforms. He noted that the participation of younger voices in governance debates signals increasing civic awareness.

“Voices like ChiefPriest’s show that Nigerians, especially young people, are becoming more interested in policies that shape the country’s future,” he said. “We should encourage constructive dialogue instead of division.”

He further appealed to members of the National Assembly to ensure that any adjustments to the Electoral Act are guided by the principles of inclusivity, fairness, and national cohesion.

“The President’s ultimate Goal is to improve the Electoral System in Nigeria and he is on the right track. I recall protests were held about a week or two ago calling for approval of E- E-transmission of Results, which has been done.”

“So its very clear that President Tinubu is a Leader that listens and has the best interest of all Nigerians at Heart.”

In addition, he commended Hope Uzodinma for his appointment as Ambassador of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“A Round Peg in a Round Hole. Governor Hope Uzodinma has done exceedingly well in Imo and generally as a Major Political Stakeholder in the Country. His appointment is testament of the President’s trust in his Capacity and Skills.”
