Epe Horror: Truck Smashes Keke In Aiyetoro, One Dead

Panic gripped residents of Aiyetoro in Epe area of Lagos State on Sunday morning after a fatal road crash claimed one life and left three others critically injured.

Eyewitnesses said the tragic incident occurred near the bustling Aiyetoro Market axis when a truck reportedly lost control while descending a hill and rammed into a commercial tricycle, popularly known as “keke.”

According to residents, the truck appeared to suffer brake failure before crashing into the tricycle and other road users, causing chaos in the busy corridor. One victim was confirmed dead at the scene, while three others sustained severe injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

The accident caused heavy traffic congestion in the area as sympathisers and passersby gathered at the scene. Security operatives and traffic officials quickly intervened to restore order and evacuate the wreckage.

As of press time, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority were yet to release an official statement on the cause of the crash, but preliminary findings point to possible mechanical failure.

Residents have repeatedly called for stricter vehicle inspections and improved traffic enforcement along the Epe corridor, describing the stretch as prone to accidents, especially involving heavy-duty trucks.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
