Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved the enlistment of 1,000 additional personnel into the Ogun State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps.
The announcement came from the Corps Commander, Alade Adedigba, in a statement released on Monday, the 2nd of March, 2026.
He said the fresh intake is part of the state’s plan to strengthen security coverage across communities in Ogun. Adedigba highlighted progress already made in crime control, emergency response, and grassroots intelligence gathering, adding that the new recruitment aims to build on those results. He noted that nearly 1,300 operatives were added to the corps last year.
He stated, “Consequent upon the approval of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, the Ogun State Security Network Agency (Ogun Amotekun Corps) announces the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise of an additional 1,000 personnel as part of deliberate efforts to reinforce community-based security operations across the state.”
According to him, the new recruits will boost operations in all 20 local government areas. Rural communities and border regions will receive closer attention, while vulnerable flashpoints will benefit from tighter surveillance and quicker response. He said the exercise supports the corps’ goal of building a disciplined and professional outfit that works alongside other security agencies to maintain order.
Applications must be submitted free of charge through the agency’s official website. The application period runs from the 26th of February 26 to the 13th of March, 2026, while screening for shortlisted candidates is scheduled from the 23rd of March to the 8th of April, 2026.

Adedigba stressed that the recruitment process will be merit-based and free, warning applicants not to pay anyone claiming to influence the exercise.
In July last year, Abiodun approved the recruitment of 550 Amotekun operatives. During their passing-out parade at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Sagamu, the governor, represented by his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, linked the move to his administration’s resolve to safeguard residents. He said the decision reflected continued investment in security and the protection of lives and property.
The governor stated, “This move is in addition to the earlier employment of 690 operatives barely six months ago into the agency with a view to further bolster the state’s security framework.”
