The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has said security measures are in place to prevent any disruption linked to solidarity protests over the conflict between the United States and Iran.
Disu shared this on Wednesday, the 4th of March, 2026, shortly after taking the oath of office as substantive IGP at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The crisis escalated after the United States and its ally, Israel, carried out air strikes on Iran on Saturday, the 28th of February, 2026, operation that reportedly led to the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Following the development, solidarity protests were recorded in two locations within Nigeria.
Responding to the situation, the IGP said, “We’re aware of possible repercussions from unrest in the Middle East.
