Omoyele Sowore has claimed that the date for his court hearing was deliberately arranged to stop him from joining a protest planned in Aba.
The activist and former presidential candidate made the allegation in a post shared on his verified account on X on Friday, the 13th of March, 2026.
He explained the circumstances surrounding his absence at a hearing linked to the Department of State Services.
According to him, when he and his lawyers got to the Federal High Court on the 5th of March, 2026, the judge assigned to the case was not available.
“When we arrived at the Federal High Court on March 5, 2026, the judge was absent and his registrar fixed March 24 as the next date,” he wrote.
Sowore said disagreements later emerged among the parties involved, prompting his legal team to ask for another hearing date.
“Because parties couldn’t agree, our lawyers wrote requesting a new date,” Sowore stated.

He alleged that the situation shifted after the DSS became aware of his plan to travel to Aba for the protest demanding the release of Nnamdi Kanu.
“The moment the DSS heard we were heading to Aba for the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest, the hearing was suddenly fixed for the same day in order to frustrate me from attending the historic rally,” he said.
Sowore said the timing of the new court date showed clear intent. “The games are obvious,” he wrote.
Despite the development, he maintained that the campaign would continue.
“Nothing can defeat an idea whose time has come,” he added.
