As Muslims in Nigeria celebrate Eid-el-Fitr following the conclusion of Ramadan, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, and the Grand Sheikh of the Caring and Sharing Sufi Centre, Rasheed Akinbile, have called on citizens to uphold unity, discipline, and a shared sense of responsibility for national development.

In a statement released on Friday, March 20, by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda conveyed Eid greetings to President Bola Tinubu, members of the Federal Executive Council, the National Assembly, the APC National Working Committee, and Muslims across the country.

He described Ramadan as “a sacred journey of the soul. a time of deep reflection, sacrifice, discipline, compassion, and renewed devotion to Almighty Allah.”

The APC chairman urged Nigerians to reflect the lessons learned during Ramadan in their everyday conduct, emphasizing unity, fairness, and kindness.

On his part, Akinbile urged Muslims to sustain the spiritual discipline cultivated during Ramadan, particularly as the country prepares for its next electoral cycle.

“The end of the fast is not an end to devotion and dedication, but a commencement of a life lived in perpetual remembrance of God,” he said.

He further advised the faithful to uphold Taqwa (God-consciousness), demonstrate kindness in their interactions, and remain united as a community.

Linking personal values to national progress, the cleric stressed that the patience, calmness, and restraint developed during Ramadan are essential for peaceful political participation and overall societal growth.

“Though Ramadan has gone, we must keep the lessons alive in our day-to-day interactions by living together harmoniously. It is in togetherness that we can make Nigeria and the world prosperous,” he concluded.

Both leaders, in their separate messages, underscored the need to carry forward the principles of faith, selflessness, and unity beyond the fasting period, noting that these values are vital to fostering a more stable and prosperous Nigeria.
