The Federal Ministry of Health has launched Lenacapavir, a long-acting injection for HIV prevention, to strengthen efforts against new infections in Nigeria.
Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, unveiled the rollout on Friday, the 27th of March, 2026, in Abuja, calling it a significant step in HIV prevention.
Lenacapavir requires less frequent dosing compared with daily oral PrEP, making it easier for high-risk individuals to stay protected.
