Security operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, have successfully rescued three nurses kidnapped from a primary health centre in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the operation on Saturday at the command’s headquarters, disclosing that the health workers were freed around 4:30 a.m. after a coordinated response by operatives.
According to him, the rescue followed intelligence-led operations after armed men invaded a government health facility in the Oke Ijebu axis of Akure in the early hours of Saturday.
Adeleye also revealed that Amotekun operatives rescued a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son who were abducted on Friday night at Pelebe community along Oda Road in Akure.
He explained that the father and son were kidnapped between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., but were later freed after what he described as a fierce encounter with the abductors around 1:00 a.m.

“The three health workers earlier taken from the primary health centre were also rescued at about 4:30 a.m. and have been moved to our facility for medical attention,” Adeleye said.
Eyewitnesses had earlier reported that gunmen stormed the health centre at about 2:00 a.m., arriving in a vehicle, before forcefully gaining entry and whisking away the on-duty staff. Some other workers reportedly escaped during the attack.
The attackers were said to have bundled the victims into their vehicle and fled the scene before security operatives launched a pursuit operation.
Adeleye reassured residents that the state security outfit remains committed to protecting lives and property, urging citizens to provide timely intelligence to aid swift response to criminal activities.
He added that collaborative security efforts are critical to sustaining safety across communities in the state.
