The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed more than 57,000 officers across the country ahead of the Easter celebrations to strengthen security and ensure a peaceful holiday period.
The nationwide mobilisation, approved by Commandant General Abubakar Audi, includes specialised tactical units and intelligence operatives tasked with protecting lives, property, and critical national assets.
According to a statement on Thursday by the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, Afolabi Babawale, the deployment covers all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory as part of proactive measures to address potential security threats during the festive period.
High-traffic areas such as churches, shopping complexes, parks, and recreational centres will be closely monitored through both visible patrols and covert operations to prevent criminal activities.
Babawale said, “In anticipation of the upcoming Easter celebrations, the Commandant General of the NSCDC has sanctioned the mobilisation of over 57,000 officers.
This massive deployment, which includes specialised tactical units and intelligence operatives, is designed to fortify national security and guarantee a peaceful holiday period for all citizens.

The strategic operation spans all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
It serves as a proactive measure to address potential security threats while ensuring the absolute protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.”
Under the directive of the Commandant General, Zonal Commanders, State Commandants, and Provosts of Colleges have been instructed to coordinate comprehensive security operations within their respective jurisdictions.
Babawale emphasised that the goal is a seamless and secure Easter season, urging parents and guardians to guide their children and prevent them from being drawn into activities that could disrupt public peace.
He stressed the importance of heightened vigilance, effective intelligence sharing, and rapid response to public reports, noting that collaboration with other security agencies is critical to the success of the operation.
Specialised units, including the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, Mining Marshals, Special Female Squad, and the Crack Squad, have been placed on maximum alert.
The NSCDC urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security formation during the Easter period.
The Federal Government had earlier announced Friday and Monday as public holidays to celebrate Easter.
