Troops Kill Eight Suspected Terrorists In Ambush Operation In Bama Borno State

Troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force and other hybrid security forces, have killed eight suspected terrorists during a coordinated ambush operation in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

A military source disclosed that the operation was carried out around 2:06 a.m. on April 1 in the Gadangari area, located behind the Government Girls Secondary School in Bama.

According to the source, the troops had set up a planned ambush targeting suspected members of Boko Haram and their logistics suppliers who were believed to be operating within the axis.

The operation reportedly led to a brief exchange of gunfire after the suspects were intercepted while moving towards the Yale axis.

“While lying in wait, the troops intercepted terrorists’ collaborators and logistics suppliers moving towards Yale axis,” the source said.

The source confirmed that eight of the suspected terrorists were neutralised during the encounter, while others escaped the scene, some believed to have sustained gunshot wounds.

He added that follow-up operations are currently underway to track down fleeing suspects and dismantle their supply networks in the area.

Security forces have since maintained heightened presence in the region, with military authorities assuring that the situation remains under control.

“The situation remains under control, with troops maintaining aggressive posture in the general area,” the source added.

The development is part of ongoing military efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and restore stability in parts of Borno State that have faced repeated insurgent attacks over the years.
