Troops of 159 Battalion, deployed at Kanama in Yobe State under Operation Hadin Kai, have arrested a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP spy during a security operation in the area.
This was disclosed by intelligence sources quoted by security analyst, Zagagola Magama, on Thursday.
It was gathered that the suspect was arrested on March 30, following intelligence provided by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
The source said troops swiftly mobilised to Kanama community, where the suspect, identified as Isah Mahammadu, 23, was apprehended.
Preliminary investigation revealed that suspect hails from Kafetowa village in Yunusari Local Government Area of Yobe State.

According to the source, the suspect had earlier denied involvement with terrorist groups, claiming he was in Kanama to celebrate the Sallah festivities.
Items recovered from him included a small bag containing a mirror, four hand bangles, a torchlight phone, and ₦3,500.
The military noted that the suspect and the recovered items were taken into custody and will be transferred to Military high command for further investigation and action.
