President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of Kano-born sports administrator and community leader, Ibrahim Galadima, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 78.
In a statement released on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, titled ‘President Tinubu mourns Sports Administrator, Ibrahim Galadima,’ the President extended his condolences to the deceased’s family.
Galadima had a long record of public service at both state and federal levels. He held key roles within the Kano State Government, including chairman of the Kano State Sports Council, and served twice as a commissioner.
He later moved on to national assignments, taking up several positions in sports administration.
At the peak of his career, Galadima served as president of the defunct Nigeria Football Association—the forerunner to the Nigeria Football Federation—from 2002 to 2006.

Following his retirement from active service, he was turbaned as Galadiman Fagge and became the traditional head of the Fagge community in Kano State.
“President Tinubu described the death of the former football promoter and administrator as a loss to sports administration and to Nigeria as a whole,” Onanuga wrote.
The President highlighted Galadima’s enduring impact on the growth of Nigerian football, noting that his contributions at both grassroots and elite levels would remain significant in the country’s sporting history.
Tinubu also conveyed his sympathies to Galadima’s family, as well as to the government and people of Kano State and the wider sports community in Nigeria and beyond.
