Tesla has begun production of its highly anticipated autonomous robotaxi, the Cybercab, according to CEO Elon Musk, who made the announcement on Friday.
The update came shortly after the company released stronger-than-expected first-quarter earnings. Musk confirmed the development in a post on X, writing, “Cybercab has started production.”
Alongside the message, he shared a 38-second promotional video filmed largely from inside the fully driverless vehicle.
TThe footage shows the Cybercab moving off the production line and navigating public roads. In a separate clip, several gold-colored units appear traveling together in formation.

Earlier in the week, Tesla disclosed that it remains on course to begin large-scale manufacturing of both the Cybercab and its Tesla Semi later this year, following a quarterly profit report of $477 million.
The Cybercab—designed without a steering wheel or pedals—was first introduced in late 2024. At the time, Musk projected it would reach the market by 2027.
Tesla has already taken initial steps toward deployment, launching a limited robotaxi service for select users on an invitation-only basis in Austin, Texas, in June of last year.
In February, the company also shared an image of staff gathered around a Cybercab at its Giga Texas facility, captioned “First Cybercab off the production line at Giga Texas.”
