A Nigerian man has raised concerns over what he described as increasing harassment by security operatives after witnessing an incident involving officers of the Nigeria Police Force and a member of the National Youth Service Corps in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The incident, captured in a video shared on X by #ChuksEricE on Tuesday, shows uniformed policemen pulling a corps member along a road near a school in Ado-Ekiti. Two other corps members in uniform were present at the scene as passersby looked on.
The individual recording the video openly criticised the officers’ conduct while filming the encounter.
“They cannot just sight a young man with a car, because they don’t have one,” he said in Yoruba language.
“They’ll work for 40 years and yet not own a car. They are just working and have nothing to show for it. You and your generation don’t even own a car. All they know is to harass people,” he added.
The eyewitness further claimed that the policemen attempted to take his phone while he was documenting the situation.

“They want to come and collect my phone. Phone that your father bought for me abi?” He questioned.
Voices in the background also encouraged him to clearly capture the officers on camera and share the footage online.
“Video them very well and post it online,” one voice said.
At another point, the man cautioned the corps member against following the officers.
“No follow them go, no follow them go anywhere,” he shouted.
While the exact cause of the confrontation remains uncertain, the public manner in which the corps member was handled has sparked reactions on social media, with many Nigerians criticising the behaviour of the officers.
The development comes shortly after reports of another incident in which an unidentified man alleged that policemen stormed a shop and harassed customers.
