Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has withdrawn from the 2027 Lagos State governorship race under the All Progressives Congress, following internal party developments that signalled a shift in support.
He announced his decision on Thursday, April 30, 2026, while addressing supporters, party leaders and members of the Lagos4Lagos Movement at Liberty House in Ikeja.
Adediran’s withdrawal came after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reportedly endorsed Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, for the party’s governorship ticket.
Explaining his move, Adediran said events that unfolded shortly after he obtained his nomination forms made the party’s direction clear, noting that the President’s backing of Hamzat informed his decision to step down.
He said his action was consistent with his earlier position to align with the President’s choice, stressing the need for unity and discipline within the party.

Adediran urged his supporters to remain calm and respect the APC’s internal processes, adding that his withdrawal reflects his commitment to party supremacy and confidence in its structure.
He also reaffirmed his loyalty to Tinubu and appreciated Lagos APC leaders for their support.
The withdrawal came less than 24 hours after he purchased his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.
Hamzat, who had earlier obtained his nomination form, is believed to have strong backing within the party, including support from the Governance Advisory Council.
The development signals early consolidation within the ruling party as preparations for the 2027 governorship election gather pace.
