The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal filed by the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, affirming that the party’s national convention held in Ibadan was conducted in violation of a subsisting court order.
In a split decision delivered on Thursday, April 30, three of the five justices ruled that the appeal lacked merit, effectively upholding earlier judicial findings against the exercise.
Justice Stephen Adah, who delivered the lead judgment, held that the convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16, 2025, was carried out in defiance of an existing order issued by the Federal High Court.

The court noted that Justice James Omotosho had previously restrained the organisers from proceeding with the planned convention, making any action taken in disregard of that directive unlawful.
By dismissing the appeal, the apex court invalidated the outcomes of the convention, further deepening the internal crisis within the PDP.
