Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been named the Football Writers’ Association Men’s Footballer of the Year after securing 45 percent of the votes cast by journalists.
The Manchester United captain finished ahead of Declan Rice in second place and Erling Haaland in third position following an impressive campaign.
Fernandes’ triumph also sees him become the first Manchester United player to win the prestigious award since Wayne Rooney claimed the honour during his time at Old Trafford.

The Portugal international has been one of United’s standout performers this season, delivering crucial goals, assists and leadership for the Premier League giants despite the club’s mixed campaign.
His performances throughout the season earned widespread recognition from football writers, with Fernandes beating strong competition from Arsenal midfielder Rice and Manchester City striker Haaland to secure the award.
