FIFA To Pay Clubs Over €9,000 Daily Per World Cup Player

FIFA is set to significantly increase compensation payments to clubs releasing players for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with reports indicating that teams could receive more than €9,000 per player per day during the tournament.

According to reports from Spanish outlet COPE, the new payment structure marks a major financial boost for clubs whose players will feature at the expanded 48-team tournament set to be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico in 2026.

The compensation is part of FIFA’s Club Benefits Programme, which rewards clubs for releasing players for international duty during the World Cup period.

With the tournament expanding in size and duration, participating clubs are expected to receive record payouts compared to previous editions.

European giants such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs likely to benefit heavily due to the large number of international players in their squads.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar saw FIFA distribute hundreds of millions of dollars to clubs worldwide, but the 2026 edition is expected to surpass previous records because of the tournament’s expanded format and increased number of matches.

The development is also expected to provide financial relief to smaller clubs across Africa, South America and Asia whose players qualify for the global showpiece.
