Piqué Faces €200,000 Fine Over Insider Trading Allegations In Spain

Former Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué is reportedly facing a €200,000 fine over insider trading allegations linked to a 2021 business deal during his time at the Catalan club.

According to a report by the Financial Times, Piqué purchased 104,166 shares in Aspy Global Services, a workplace health and safety company, shortly before a takeover deal that allegedly caused the value of the shares to surge.

The report claims the former Spanish international made substantial profits from the transaction, with investigators believing he acted on privileged information ahead of the takeover.

It was further alleged that the information was provided by businessman José Elías Navarro, who reportedly has close ties with Barcelona and club president Joan Laporta.
