Two APC Senatorial Aspirants Withdraw From Kebbi Primaries

Two prominent aspirants of the All Progressives Congress in Kebbi State, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah and Sani M. Kabiru, have withdrawn from the party’s senatorial primary elections scheduled for May 18, 2026, amid increasing political realignments within the party.

Na’Allah, who previously represented Kebbi South Senatorial District, announced his withdrawal in a letter dated May 17 and addressed to the APC state chairman in Birnin Kebbi.

In the letter, the former senator said his decision followed extensive consultations and available information concerning the party’s position ahead of the primary election.

Explaining his decision, Na’Allah said, “After careful consultations and credible information available to me regarding the disposition of the party toward the forthcoming primary election, I have decided to withdraw from the contest.”

He noted that although he had spent more than 14 years contributing to the growth and stability of the APC as one of its founding members at both the state and national levels, he decided to step aside to preserve harmony within the party.

“I have dedicated over 14 years to building and strengthening this party. My decision is borne out of respect for the unity, peace, and progress of the APC,” he stated.

Na’Allah also expressed appreciation to his supporters and constituents, especially those who contributed financially toward the purchase of his nomination form.

“I remain grateful to my supporters and the good people of Kebbi South for their trust, encouragement, and sacrifices throughout this journey,” Na’Allah added.

Similarly, Sani M. Kabiru, widely known as Kabiru Sani Giant and an aspirant for the Kebbi Central Senatorial District ticket, also pulled out of the contest.

In his withdrawal letter dated May 16 and addressed to the party leadership, Kabiru explained that his decision was based on “personal, political, and strategic considerations.”

He thanked party leaders, campaign coordinators, and supporters for their loyalty and support throughout his political aspiration.

“I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support and solidarity shown to me by party stakeholders, supporters, and members of my campaign team,” Kabiru stated.

Kabiru further reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged continued commitment toward the party’s future successes at the polls.

“My commitment to the APC remains unwavering, and I will continue to work for the success and stability of our great party,” he added.

The withdrawals are coming at a time of heightened political manoeuvring and shifting alliances within the APC in Kebbi State ahead of the senatorial primaries.
