Troops Rescue 92 Abducted Victims During Anti-Terror Operation In Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have rescued 92 kidnapped victims during a coordinated military operation targeting suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Borno State.

The rescue mission was reportedly carried out on Saturday by troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion stationed at Echo 1, Dutse Kura, along the Buratai-Kamuya road in Biu Local Government Area.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the development in a post shared on X on Sunday.

According to the report, the operation was launched after troops detected suspicious movement through surveillance operations, revealing terrorists moving civilians and vehicles through bush paths in the area.

Following the intelligence gathering, a Quick Reaction Force was immediately deployed, while reinforcement troops from the 27 Task Force Brigade joined the pursuit of the fleeing terrorists towards the Mangari-Dora axis.

During the operation, troops reportedly engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, forcing them to abandon the kidnapped victims and vehicles before escaping deeper into the bush.

“During the operation, troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon the kidnapped victims and the vehicles before escaping further into the bush,” Makama stated.

The military successfully rescued all 92 victims without reported casualties among the civilians, while the abandoned vehicles used by the attackers were also recovered at the scene.

The latest rescue operation highlights ongoing military offensives against insurgent groups operating in parts of Northeast Nigeria, particularly in Borno State, where Boko Haram and ISWAP activities have persisted for years despite intensified counterterrorism efforts.
