Eid-el-Kabir: FRSC Deploys 1,100 Personnel, Patrol Teams In Niger, Jigawa

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Niger State Command, has deployed 600 personnel as part of measures to ensure a smooth and accident-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the state.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Niger State, A’ishat Sa’adu, disclosed this in a statement released to journalists on Monday in Minna.

She explained that the special traffic operation would commence on Monday, May 25, and cover major highways across the state.

According to her, the command has also positioned 12 patrol vehicles, one tow truck, and three ambulances to support emergency response and traffic management during the festive period.

Sa’adu noted that the deployment was aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow, swift rescue operations, and improved safety for road users before, during, and after the celebration.

She also emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration to protect lives and property throughout the holiday period.

Motorists were urged to strictly adhere to traffic regulations, avoid overspeeding, and desist from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

She stated, “Motorists and other road users are advised to obey all traffic rules and regulations, avoid speeding, and refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs so that they can arrive at their destinations alive,” she advised.

In a related development, the Jigawa State Command of the FRSC has also deployed 581 personnel and logistics equipment ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

According to a statement issued on Sunday in Dutse by the corps spokesperson, Yahaya Ibrahim, the operation is designed to ensure safe travel and uninterrupted movement across the state during the festive period.

He said the deployment includes 461 regular officers, 120 special marshals, eight patrol vehicles, and four ambulances strategically positioned to enhance monitoring and emergency response.

The operation is scheduled to run from May 25 to May 31, a period expected to witness increased movement of people and vehicles.

Ibrahim added that the initiative also aims to reduce road traffic crashes and improve traffic flow along major highways.

He further disclosed that the corps has intensified public enlightenment campaigns alongside strict enforcement of traffic rules.

According to him, “The operation is focused on reduction in Road Traffic Crashes (RTC) on highways and major roads in the state,” he said.

He explained that mobile court sittings and aggressive enforcement would target offences such as speeding, dangerous driving, improper overtaking, lane indiscipline, route violations, overloading, phone use while driving, and underage driving.

Other offences listed include seatbelt and child restraint violations, passenger manifest breaches, use of mechanically unfit vehicles, carrying passengers in trailers, and illegal use of spy number plates.

Ibrahim urged motorists to comply with all traffic laws to ensure a peaceful and accident-free celebration, assuring that the corps remains committed to safeguarding lives, property, and ensuring free flow of traffic nationwide during the festive period.
