Residents of Ebubu, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State were thrown into panic after a politician identified as Samuel Obe Ngobe was brutally killed by gunmen suspected to be assassins.
According to a post by a Facebook handle, Rivers Mirror the incident occurred on May 22 when the assailants invaded a hotel in the community owned by the deceased and shot him dead
An eyewitness identified only as Okoli in a telephone conversation told First Daily correspondent on Monday that the two suspects, who were masked, invaded the area on a motorbike and went straight to the politician and opened fire on him.
Okoli said, “When they came everyone ran to take cover, all I heard after was gunshots.

“The assailants also carted away cell phones from the hotel workers to prevent them from raising an alarm.”
When contacted by First Daily correspondent, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Command, Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, confirmed the killing.
The PPRO said that the investigation is ongoing on the matter.
