Insecurity: Kwankwaso Denies Planning Protest, Urges Change Through Ballot

Former Kano State Governor and National Democratic Coalition (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that he and his supporters are planning a protest over the worsening security situation in Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Monday, Kwankwaso described the claim as false and misleading, stating that neither he nor his political party had endorsed or initiated any protest related to insecurity in the country.

According to him, the message currently making rounds on social media does not represent the position of the NDC and should be disregarded by members of the public.

“Our attention has been drawn to a message currently circulating on social media falsely claiming that we are planning a protest over the rising insecurity in the country,” Kwankwaso said.

He stressed that he remains committed to peace and lawful democratic engagement, noting that neither he nor his party supports any action capable of disrupting public order or endangering lives and property.

“We do not support any action that could lead to the breakdown of public order or the destruction of lives and property,” he stated.

The former governor reiterated that national challenges should be addressed through constructive dialogue and democratic processes rather than through actions that could generate unrest.

“As responsible leaders, we remain committed to peaceful and constructive approaches in addressing national challenges,” he added.

Kwankwaso further emphasized that elections remain the most legitimate avenue for citizens to express dissatisfaction and effect political change, expressing confidence in the NDC’s prospects in future elections.

“As committed democrats, we firmly believe that the ballot box remains the most legitimate and effective way to express grievances and seek change.

Our party, the NDC, is confident of securing a resounding victory in the upcoming elections through peaceful democratic means,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to verify information before sharing it and warned against the spread of misinformation capable of creating unnecessary tension in the country.

The clarification comes amid growing public concern over insecurity across several parts of Nigeria and increasing political activities ahead of future elections.
