U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that Iran will face consequences for delaying negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, declaring that Tehran had missed an opportunity to secure a favorable agreement.
In a strongly worded post on his Truth Social platform on Wednesday, Trump claimed that Iran’s military had been decisively weakened and accused the country of prolonging talks.
“The Bully of the Middle East is DEAD!!! They’ve taken too long to negotiate a deal that would have been great for them, now they will have to pay the price!!!” the U.S. president wrote.
Trump’s comments came amid renewed hostilities between the United States and Iran, which have placed significant strain on a ceasefire that took effect in April.
The remarks marked a sharp shift in tone from statements he made a day earlier, when he told reporters that negotiations toward a lasting settlement were nearing completion and could be concluded within days.
The latest escalation followed U.S. military strikes against Iranian targets late Tuesday. According to U.S. forces, the strikes were carried out in response to the downing of an American helicopter by Iran on Monday.
Iranian media reported explosions along the country’s southern coastline following the attacks.

The U.S. Central Command later stated that Air Force and Navy assets had targeted command-and-control facilities, as well as defense and surveillance installations.
In response, Iranian authorities announced on Wednesday that they had launched attacks against American military bases in Jordan and Bahrain, raising fears of a broader regional confrontation.
The exchange of military action has heightened tensions across the Middle East and cast uncertainty over efforts to secure a permanent end to the conflict, despite recent diplomatic progress.
Analysts warn that continued hostilities between Washington and Tehran could further destabilize the region and complicate ongoing peace negotiations.
