Veteran Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has expressed concern over the worsening insecurity in Nigeria, saying the situation has denied him the freedom to travel by road, his preferred means of transportation.
The actor made the remarks in a video currently circulating on social media amid the June 12 Democracy Day protests taking place in several parts of the country.
Addressing security operatives, Emeka Ike warned that the growing insecurity should not be allowed to escalate further, stressing that every Nigerian could eventually become a victim if urgent action is not taken.
“I love travelling by road, but today I am being denied my preferred means of transportation because of insecurity. Don’t allow this insecurity to go too far; tomorrow, it could be your own children,” he said.

His comments come as Nigerians in Abuja, Lagos, Oyo and other states staged Democracy Day protests over rising hardship, insecurity, unemployment and the increasing cost of living.
Many demonstrators used the occasion of Nigeria’s 27th anniversary of uninterrupted democratic rule to call on the government to address the economic and security challenges confronting citizens.
The protests were marked by demands for improved security, job creation, lower living costs and stronger measures to tackle kidnappings, banditry and other violent crimes across the country.
Emeka Ike’s remarks have resonated with many Nigerians who say fear of abduction and attacks has made road travel increasingly risky in several parts of the country.
Recent months have witnessed a series of high-profile kidnappings and attacks, including the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in parts of Oyo and Borno states, further fuelling public concerns about security.
As Democracy Day demonstrations continue across the country, protesters have maintained that addressing insecurity and economic hardship should remain a top priority for the government.
