Tunisia Sack Head Coach Sabri Lamouchi After Crushing W/Cup Defeat To Sweden

Tunisia have dismissed head coach Sabri Lamouchi following the country’s humiliating 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Tunisian Football Federation announced the decision shortly after the heavy loss, bringing an abrupt end to Lamouchi’s tenure as national team coach.

Tunisia endured a difficult outing against Sweden, conceding five goals in a one-sided contest that has sparked immediate action from the federation as the North Africans seek to revive their World Cup campaign.

In a statement, the federation confirmed that Lamouchi had been relieved of his duties with immediate effect following the disappointing result.

The federation also revealed that plans are already underway to appoint Mondher Kebaier as interim head coach ahead of Tunisia’s remaining group-stage matches.

The decision comes as one of the first major managerial casualties of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Tunisia hoping a change in leadership can help turn around their fortunes after a disastrous start to the tournament.

Tunisia now face a race against time to regroup before their next World Cup fixture as they attempt to keep their hopes of progressing from the group stage alive.
