President Bola Tinubu on Monday, June 29, 2026, commissioned the reconstructed Karu road network in the Federal Capital Territory, saying the project will ease traffic, stimulate economic activity and improve the living standards of residents.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the President said the inauguration, coming a week after the commissioning of the Karu water supply project, reflects his administration’s commitment to extending critical infrastructure to satellite communities under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The project covers the rehabilitated road from the Karu Interchange to the Customs Clinic Junction and adjoining roads, with new drainage systems, walkways and solar-powered streetlights.
Tinubu said the upgraded network will end years of severe traffic congestion along the busy FCT gateway, reduce travel time, improve security and create a more favorable environment for businesses.

He commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for driving the capital city’s urban renewal programme and praised the contractor, Abdul-Val Nigeria Limited, for delivering the project to the required standard and on schedule.
The President urged residents and community leaders to protect the infrastructure by preventing vandalism and keeping drainage channels free of refuse.
Wike described President Tinubu’s support for infrastructure development in the FCT as unprecedented, assuring residents that the administration would sustain the ongoing transformation of Abuja and its satellite towns.
Earlier, Satellite Towns Development Department Coordinator, Zulkiflu Abdulkadir, said the project would improve mobility, safety and economic activities in Karu, one of the FCT’s largest satellite communities.
The commissioning was attended by lawmakers, senior government officials, traditional rulers and other stakeholders.
