Ex-Power Minister Mamman Forfeits Five More Properties To FG

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the forfeiture of five additional properties linked to former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, following his conviction in a corruption case.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) disclosed the development on its official X account, stating that Justice James Omotosho ruled that one of the properties was acquired with proceeds of crime.

According to the commission, “Forfeited permanently among them is Walijam Apartments, located on No. 43, Plot 435, Lobito Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja.”

The EFCC said the court also granted interim forfeiture orders on four other properties pending the determination of ownership claims.

The affected properties include Bloom Luxury Suites Nigeria Limited in Unguwan Rimi, Kaduna State, two mansions on Misratah Street in Wuse 2, Abuja, and A.U.A Plaza on Kade Street in Wuse 2, Abuja.

Justice Omotosho held that the commission had established that Walijam Apartments was purchased with money generated through unlawful activities.

The judge further directed the EFCC to publish the interim forfeiture order in a national newspaper within seven days to allow anyone with an interest in the remaining four properties to appear before the court and explain why they should not also be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.

Mamman was prosecuted by the EFCC on a 12 count amended charge involving corruption and money laundering amounting to ₦33.8 billion.

He was found guilty on all counts on May 7, 2026, before being sentenced to 75 years imprisonment on May 13, 2026.

The anti-graft agency noted that several assets had already been recovered from the former minister during the trial.

The EFCC added that “while ill-gotten assets were recovered from him in the course of the trial, the judge further ordered him to refund the N22 billion the Commission successfully traced to him.”
