The Super Falcons have officially commenced preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with nine players reporting to the team’s training camp in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of the tournament.
Nigeria, the record WAFCON champions, are aiming to successfully defend their continental crown as preparations gather momentum before the competition kicks off.
Leading the early arrivals is captain Rashidat Ajibade, alongside first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and veteran striker Asisat Oshoala.
Also in camp are defenders Glory Ogbonna, Oluwatosin Demehin, Rofiat Imuran and Shukurat Oladipo, while midfielder Christy Ucheibe and Fatina Oloko complete the list of players currently with the squad.
The arrival of the first batch of players signals the beginning of Nigeria’s build-up to the championship, with more members of the squad expected to join camp in the coming days.
The Super Falcons will use the training sessions in Casablanca to fine-tune tactics and build match fitness as they seek another successful outing at Africa’s biggest women’s football tournament.
Nigeria heads into the 2026 WAFCON as one of the favourites, boasting a rich history in the competition and a squad packed with experienced internationals and emerging talents.
