Social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, VDM, has told the Nigeria Police Force that he will present evidence supporting his allegations against some police officers only if he is charged to court.
The activist was responding to an invitation from the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, over claims he made during the 66th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, in Port Harcourt.
First Daily reports that VeryDarkMan appeared as a panelist at the conference on Tuesday, August 25, where he alleged that some police officers operating checkpoints along major highways provide kidnappers and bandits with information about travellers.
He claimed the officers disclose the identities and movements of travellers to criminal groups, alleging that some police personnel are themselves involved in the insecurity affecting the country.
In a statement issued on Thursday, August 27, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, invited VeryDarkMan to provide evidence to support his allegations.

The activist responded in a post on his official Facebook page, insisting that he stood by his claims and would submit his evidence through a court proceeding.
“On the Nigerian police I SAID WHAT I SAID, you will get your evidence when I am charged to court.
“I repeat THE POLICE ARE THE UNKNOWN gunmen and they aid kidnappings. I’m going to give the police my evidence. I will be charged to court and I will tender the evidence in the court,” he declared.
VeryDarkMan had also alleged at the NBA conference that police personnel were contributing to the country’s security crisis, particularly through their alleged links with criminal elements operating on major highways.
The police invitation followed the remarks, with the force seeking evidence to substantiate the allegations.
VeryDarkMan’s response now leaves the next step with the police, as the dispute over his claims continues to attract public attention.
