Arsenal have signed 20-year-old full-back Habeeb Ogunneye from Manchester United, the Premier League champions confirmed on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
The club did not disclose the transfer fee or contract length. Ogunneye will initially join Arsenal’s Under-21s, with opportunities to train with the senior squad.
London-born Ogunneye spent 15 years at Manchester United after joining the academy at five. He received his first senior call-up on February 28, 2024, for the FA Cup fifth-round tie against Nottingham Forest and was later included in 10 first-team matchday squads without making a competitive appearance.
He moved to League Two side Newport County on loan on July 15, 2025, making his senior debut against Crawley Town on August 9.

He scored his first professional goal against MK Dons on August 23 and finished the spell with 21 appearances and one goal before returning to United in January 2026.
Ogunneye, an England Under-17 international who is also eligible to represent Nigeria, now gets a fresh opportunity to progress towards Premier League football at Arsenal.
His move adds to a long history of transfers between the two clubs. Mikaël Silvestre joined Arsenal from United in 2008, while Viv Anderson moved from Arsenal to United in 1987.
The clubs have also exchanged academy talent, with United signing former Arsenal youngsters Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi-Martin in 2025.
For Ogunneye, the immediate task is to build on his Newport experience and force his way into Arsenal’s senior plans.
