The Nigeria Police Force has reported a series of operational successes across several states, including the rescue of a kidnapped victim, arrests of suspected criminals and the recovery of firearms, ammunition, illicit substances and stolen property.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu in a statement on Tuesday, the operations were carried out between September 5 and 7, 2026, following intelligence gathering, patrols and tactical interventions.
In Katsina State, police operatives engaged armed bandits in a gun duel after the suspects invaded Gidan Rago and Unguwar Malam Garba villages in Kafur Local Government Area. The officers successfully rescued one of the abducted victims, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim, who sustained an injury to his right hand and was taken to General Hospital, Kafur, for treatment.
In Kogi State, detectives investigating criminal intimidation and injurious falsehood arrested 18-year-old Mustapha Yaya at Okenya Odotito in Igalamela/Odolu LGA. A locally made single-barrel gun and three live cartridges were recovered from him. Police subsequently arrested another wanted suspect, Abdul Salam Shuhu.
A 31-year-old suspect, Buhari Ibrahim, was also arrested in Nasarawa State following a citizen’s arrest in Garaku. Police said an AK-47 rifle and a live 7.62mm round were recovered from his possession.
In Anambra State, police raided a suspected criminal hideout at Ngozika Estate, Awka, based on credible intelligence. Eleven suspects were arrested, while officers recovered quantities of substances suspected to be cannabis sativa, 10 mobile phones, three bags, three ATM cards, an MP player and ₦17,750 in cash.
Meanwhile, police restored normalcy in Sokoto State after a violent protest broke out in the Kanwuri area of Sokoto metropolis. Tactical and patrol teams dispersed the rioters without any reported deaths or injuries, while 30 suspects were arrested.
In Plateau State, police arrested 35-year-old Abdulkadir Haruna following the discovery of the body of a 65-year-old man at his farm in Qua’an-Pan LGA. A blood-stained machete and an empty 7.62mm ammunition shell were recovered during the operation.
A separate stop-and-search operation in Akwa Ibom State led to the arrest of 23-year-old Mfon Bassey Essien along Ayah Road, Ikot Ekpene. Police recovered a locally made pistol loaded with one live cartridge from him.

In the Federal Capital Territory, police arrested 18-year-old Aliyu Usman over the alleged vandalisation of classroom windows at Government Secondary School, Yangoji, in Kwali Area Council. The stolen government property was recovered, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend two other suspects who reportedly fled.
In Ogun State, police investigating an armed robbery at a company in Agbara recovered some stolen armoured cables from nearby bushes. The company’s security guard was arrested for questioning as part of the investigation.
Another operation in Benue State resulted in the arrest of three suspects who were intercepted while transporting two cattle in a truck under suspicious circumstances. The cattle were impounded and later identified and reclaimed by their legitimate owners.
In Lagos State, tactical operatives acting on intelligence arrested two suspected criminal elements who were allegedly hiding in the Okosu area of Ojo. Police said efforts were continuing to arrest other members of the group who were still at large.
The police also reported progress in a sexual offence investigation in Ogun State involving the alleged assault of a 14-year-old girl. The suspected perpetrator was being pursued, while the victim was taken to General Hospital, Imeko, for medical examination and treatment.
The Force said investigations into the various cases are ongoing across the affected states.
The police urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies, stressing the importance of community cooperation in preventing and tackling crime.
