INEC Announces Date For Five Legislative By-Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, September 19, 2026, for five legislative by-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states.

INEC Chief Press Secretary, Tunde Oketola, confirmed the date in Abuja on Tuesday, September 8,2026.

The polls comprise one House of Representatives election and four State House of Assembly contests.

The federal seat is the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, while the state elections will hold in Disina and Sakwa in Bauchi, Udu in Delta and Dawakin Kudu in Kano.

The polls will fill vacancies in the affected constituencies.

The exercise comes ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the presidential and National Assembly polls scheduled for January 16, 2027, and the governorship and State Assembly elections for February 6.
