Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Masari, has said he has not seen a Nigerian president with better plans for the country than President Bola Tinubu in nearly four decades of his political involvement.
Masari made the comment in a video published on Tuesday by HM Arewa, a media platform that reports in Hausa. He was addressing a group of women at a public function reportedly held in Kaduna.
The former Katsina State governor also expressed support for Tinubu’s administration and his bid for another term in office in the 2027 presidential election.
“Even if I were asked to swear, on my age and my political involvement for almost 40 years, I can confidently say I have never seen a president with better plans to make Nigeria great than Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I have simply never seen anyone like him,” Masari said.
He dismissed criticisms that the Tinubu administration had achieved little, arguing that previous governments had faced similar criticism during their respective periods in office.
Masari cited the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, saying critics accused the government of sectionalism and tribalism after Obasanjo’s first four years in office.
He also referenced the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, saying similar criticisms were made against it and were now being directed at Tinubu.
“The people who claim that Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done nothing are the kind of people who never appreciate when someone is doing well,” he said.
Masari also criticised the use of ethnic and religious sentiments in political discussions, questioning the notion that religion could be associated exclusively with particular ethnic groups.

“What surprises me about our people when they talk about religion is this, is religion exclusive to the Hausa, the Yoruba, or even the Igbo?” he asked.
The former governor called on women preachers to use their influence to discourage divisive rhetoric as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Each and every one of you knows how to talk to her husband or children better than anyone else can,” he said.
“This divisive talk is only being pushed by people who are deeply selfish.”
Masari served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007 and later governed Katsina State from 2015 to 2023. He was appointed Deputy Director-General, Parliamentary Mobilisation, of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign in August.
The remarks come as political parties and their candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while the governorship and State House of Assembly elections are scheduled for February 6, 2027.
Masari’s comments therefore add to the growing political debate surrounding Tinubu’s administration and the 2027 presidential contest, with political actors increasingly mobilising support and presenting their respective positions ahead of the polls.
