NNPCL Postpones Abuja HSE Conference Over Ebola Outbreak

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has postponed its Contractors and Partners Chief Executive Officers’ Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Conference following the confirmation of an Ebola case in Abuja.

The state-owned oil company announced the decision in a notice posted on its account on Wednesday, October 21, explaining that the postponement was a precautionary measure.

“The NNPC Limited Contractors and Partners CEO HSE Conference, scheduled for 21–22 October 2026 in Abuja, has been postponed as a precaution following confirmation of an Ebola case in Abuja,” NNPCL stated.

The company said the decision was taken to prioritise the safety and welfare of everyone expected to attend the event.

“The health, safety and wellbeing of all participants remain our priority.

We regret the inconvenience and thank our partners, contractors, speakers and participants for their understanding.

A new date will be announced in due course.”

The conference was scheduled to bring together chief executives of contractors and partner organisations working with NNPCL to discuss health, safety and environmental issues within the oil and gas industry.

The postponement comes as Nigerian health authorities intensify efforts to contain the confirmed Ebola case in the Federal Capital Territory and trace people who may have been exposed to the infection.
